According to Pastor hay, " The biblical accounts tell the story of these final hours ever so subtly. The Gospels say only "they scourged him," that a crown of thorns was "placed" on his head and that "he was crucified." The movie version portrays raw flesh being ripped from Jesus' back and chest with every lash. The camera doesn't pan away after a few blood-splattering whips. I forced myself to count all 39, a seemingly endless pounding that, historically speaking, left at least half of scourging recipients dead."
Hmm. Just what were those gospel writiers thinking, leaving out the gorey details.
